Gov. Ron DeSantis has appointed Rita Pritchett to serve on the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners, returning a familiar face to the county’s governing body.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Gov. Ron DeSantis has appointed Rita Pritchett to serve on the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners, returning a familiar face to the county’s governing body.

The appointment was announced Friday by the Governor’s Office.

Pritchett currently serves as a professor at Eastern Florida State College and is an administrator at New Life Space Coast Church and Academy.

Pritchett is no stranger to public service in Brevard County.

She previously served as a member of the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners and also served as a Titusville City Commissioner, giving her years of experience in government and community leadership.

Academically, Pritchett earned both her bachelor’s degree in business and her master’s degree in accountancy from the University of Central Florida.

Her appointment fills a seat on the five-member Brevard County Commission, which oversees countywide issues including public safety, infrastructure, growth management, parks, environmental programs, and the county’s annual budget.

The Governor’s Office announced the appointment on July 17.

Additional details regarding Pritchett’s swearing-in and the length of her appointment are expected to be released by county officials.
