BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey announced in his latest 60-second crime update that deputies participating in Operation Stonegarden detained 18 individuals believed to be in the country illegally in Brevard County.

The operation was carried out in coordination with federal and state law enforcement partners as part of ongoing immigration enforcement efforts.

Operation Stonegarden is a federally supported initiative that provides funding and resources to local law enforcement agencies to assist with border security and immigration-related operations.

In Brevard County, the program has been used to support targeted enforcement efforts on major roadways and in collaboration with agencies including U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Homeland Security Investigations, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and the Florida Highway Patrol.

Sheriff Ivey has previously said illegal immigration affects communities far beyond the nation’s borders and has emphasized the importance of partnerships between local, state, and federal agencies in identifying and detaining individuals who are in the country unlawfully.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office has been actively involved in several immigration enforcement initiatives in recent years, including Operation Shield and broader multi-agency operations throughout the county.

According to Sheriff Ivey, the 18 individuals detained during Operation Stonegarden are being processed through established immigration enforcement procedures and will be handled in coordination with federal authorities. Additional details about the detainees, including their identities and countries of origin, were not immediately released.
