Eastern Florida State College Falls to No. 7 Salt Lake CC, Travels to Texas Next Week for Blinn Tourney
Titans fall in four sets 25-13, 23-25, 25-11, 25-14
FORT MYERS, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College women’s volleyball team lost to No. 7 Salt Lake Community College Saturday afternoon at the FSW Battle at the Beach Tournament.
The Titans, who finished the tournament 1-2, fell in four sets, losing 25-13, 23-25, 25-11, 25-14.
Eastern Florida State College got off to a slow start, dropping the first set but bounced back in the second set behind strong serving from Leyre Arroyo Sanchez who got the Titans off to a 7-0 start. Salt Lake would gradually cut into the lead and tied the match 19-19.
From there it was tight with the Titans picking up the final two points to pick up the win.
Salt Lake would take advantage of EFSC errors to win the next two sets and the match.
Fabiana Tavara finished with 25 assists and Veronique Ruiz had 13 digs for the Titans. Jada Zimmerman finished with seven kills.
Eastern Florida State College will travel to Texas to compete in the Blinn Tournament beginning Thursday.
