BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Board of County Commissioners held its monthly zoning meeting Thursday, August 6, at the Brevard County Government Center in Viera.

The meeting began at 5 p.m. inside the Commission Chambers at 2725 Judge Fran Jamieson Way. Commissioners considered a series of zoning changes, comprehensive plan amendments and other land-use matters affecting properties throughout Brevard County.

The agenda included 13 scheduled public hearing items, including requests involving properties in County Commission Districts 1, 2 and 5.

Among the matters before commissioners was a request from Cocoa Town Center, LLC, seeking a small-scale comprehensive plan amendment that would change the future land-use designation of two properties from Community Commercial to Residential 15. The applicant also requested changing the zoning classification of the properties from BU-1 to RU-2-15.

Commissioners also considered requests from Sami and Violette Salib involving properties in District 1. The applications sought to change the future land-use designation from Neighborhood Commercial and Residential 2 to Community Commercial and change the zoning classification from AU to BU-1.

In District 5, BT Rodes, LLC and Padgett Properties Trust requested a comprehensive plan amendment changing two properties from Residential 6 to Community Commercial, along with a zoning change from BU-1-A and AU to BU-2.

Other public hearings included zoning requests from Patricia and James Kent, Anthony Falanga, Sandman Outdoor Storage, ABRS, LLC, and Robin and Maxine Bland and Tara Brozman.

Two applications involving property owned by the Jeanne A. Benson and Arthur W. Berger Jr. Trust had previously been withdrawn by the applicant during July 13 Planning and Zoning/Local Planning Agency proceedings, according to the county agenda.

The meeting also included an add-on resolution setting forth the commission’s findings and conclusions regarding the denial of a zoning change requested for property owned by Turtle Mound Ventures LLC.

The five-member Brevard County Commission includes District 1 Commissioner Rita Pritchett, District 2 Commissioner Tom Goodson, District 3 Commissioner and Vice Chair Kim Adkinson, District 4 Commissioner Rob Feltner and District 5 Commissioner and Chairman Thad Altman.

Brevard County zoning meetings provide an opportunity for commissioners to consider land-use and development requests and for residents to provide public input on proposals affecting their communities.

The meeting was held at the Brevard County Government Center in Viera and broadcast through Space Coast Government Television.
