The advisory will remain in effect until 7:30 p.m. EDT.
Up to 2.5 inches of rain have already fallen in affected areas, and forecasters say an additional 1.5 inches could accumulate.
The heavy rainfall may cause minor flooding in low-lying and poor-drainage areas. Motorists should use caution and avoid driving through flooded roadways.
