Working with St. Francis Hospice and 321 Flags and Gifts Raising Funds for American flags for Veterans
Kayleigh Mollycheck, the newly crowned and inaugural Miss Brevard County, talked with Steve Wilson at the Erdman Automotive Studio in Cocoa. BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – I recently had the opportunity to sit down and talk with the newly crowned and inaugural Miss Brevard County, Kayleigh Mollycheck. The South Carolina native is already making an impact in Brevard County.
I asked Mollycheck what she hopes to accomplish during her reign.
She told me, “I want to shine the spotlight on as many organizations and business leaders throughout this county who are doing impactful work, so that we can all be so proud of the community that we live in.”
One of her first initiatives as Miss Brevard County is Stars, Stripes & Service. This effort aims to purchase and provide 1,000 American flags to Veterans in the community. She has partnered with St. Francis Hospice and 321 Flags and Gifts in this effort.
Mollycheck told me she was very impressed with the St. Francis Hospice Veteran program. In fact, she was so impressed that she is now an ambassador for St. Francis Hospice.

Steve Wilson was born in DeRidder, Louisiana, and grew up in both New Orleans and Macon, Georgia. He moved to Brevard County in 1984 and retired from local government as the Community Advocate/Assistant to the City Manager with the City of Rockledge in 2018.

Wilson is especially proud of chairing two fundraisers in support of pediatric cancer research through the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, in honor of Merritt Island resident Julie Spurlock, that raised over $25,000.00.
He has been a partner, along with Orville Susong, for the past 27 years with the Friday Night Locker Room, a broadcasting team that covers and reports on a wide variety of local events significant to residents of the Space Coast and beyond. Their mission is to promote youth sports, support first responders and law enforcement personnel, and showcase community and charitable events that are produced by our nonprofit partners in central Florida.
The Friday Night Locker Room has awarded hundreds of sports achievement plaques to Brevard County student-athletes over the years. They have also awarded more than $18,000 in academic scholarships to Brevard County high school seniors.
