BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – While the Harris Corporation considers the future location of its corporate headquarters currently in Melbourne, it’s presence on a grand scale will be felt in Palm Bay for years to come.
The Fortune 500 company officially opened its new technology center at its Palm Bay campus which promises to be a hub for global technological innovation and will house more than 1,400 engineers and staff.
Palm Bay Mayor William Capote was featured alongside Congressman Bill Posey, U.S. Senator Bill Nelson and Harris CEO William Brown for the invitation only grand opening event.

“For Harris this new high tech center represents an important investment in our future growth,” said Harris CEO William Brown.
“This investment will allow us to attract and retain some of the best and most talented people on the planet. It would not have been possible without the efforts of the city of Palm Bay and so many other partners.”

The new center sports a modern look with its 6-story reflective hurricane-resistant glass exterior façade.
The 464,000 sq. ft. open floor plan has a view from almost every angle.
The interior layout and design is deemed a “cornerstone” in the company’s long term initiatives to modernize its facilities and, according to Brown, provide its employees with a world class work environment that fosters innovation in technology as well as excellence in operations.

“Simply put, this $130 million investment will allow us to attract and retain some of the best and most talented people on the planet,” Brown added.
“This is a place with innovation, with advanced labs, collaborative works spaces designed to incubate and grow the technology solutions that will serve our customers around the globe.”
Palm Bay’s contribution was critical to the expansion’s success.
The realignment of Troutman Boulevard with Clearmont Street was needed in order to facilitate access without which the company may have built elsewhere.

“They say sometimes you must move mountains for success. In this case we just moved a couple of roads around,” said Mayor William Capote.
“I’m proud to say our Public Works Department and its professional engineers along with Harris and its engineering team partnered together to make it happen—on time and under budget which makes the reward even sweeter.”
As a city, Palm Bay is known as a hub for technology, innovation and advanced industry.
