Brevard County Fire Rescue Crews Fully Contain 1,000-Acre Brush Fire Near SR-46

ABOVE VIDEO: Brevard County Fire Rescue has fully contained a brush fire on the northwest side of Brevard County that began over weekend, grew over 1,000 acres, and burned up to the south side of SR 46.
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA –Brevard County Fire Rescue has fully contained a brush fire on the northwest side of Brevard County that began over weekend, grew over 1,000 acres, and burned up to the south side of SR-46.
Officials say the fire crews worked the fire all night on Saturday and into the day on Sunday.
BCFR crews were assisted from Titusville Fire Rescue, Mims Volunteer Fire Department, Four Communities Volunteer Fire Department, Florida Division of Forestry, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, with support from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Highway Patrol.
SR-46 was temporarily closed before being reopened Sunday afternoon.
Officials say lightning strikes caused the fire.
