Supported becoming the first city in Brevard to remove fluoride from its water

Palm Bay City Council member Chandler Langevin, elected last November, issued the following report on his first 90 days in office.

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA —  Palm Bay City Council member Chandler Langevin, elected last November, issued the following report on his first 90 days in office.

It has been my honor to represent the City of Palm Bay for the past three months, and I would like to share with the voters just a few of our many accomplishments so far.

First off, it was well known that Palm Bay was a ship sailing in the wrong direction and needed to change course 180 degrees immediately.

That is why the residents of Palm Bay delivered a stunning victory to three new councilmen who are energetic and got to work on day one with a mission to expand infrastructure, enhance public safety, and bring high-paying jobs to our community. One of the first things we fixed after bringing on a phenomenal interim City Manager was how we conducted budgeting.

With a new manager and council focused on keeping your taxes down while getting the most out of every dollar, we have already saved the city $11 million, which we will allocate to much-needed but expensive infrastructure projects. The number one priority for residents in Palm Bay is to expand the roads. We are working as fast as possible on this gargantuan project.

A critical engineering study has already been completed regarding the widening of Malabar Road, and planning is also taking place for the widening of Babcock Road. These will be our top two priorities moving forward in road infrastructure. Infrastructure is not only referring to roads. Last month I made the motion and council supported becoming the first city in Brevard County to officially remove fluoride from its water and use the excess funds to treat our water in a safer and healthier way.

Palm Bay City Council member Chandler Langevin: We are blessed to have an amazing Congressman in Mike Haridopolos, above right, who was just named the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Space and who supports our council. One way or the other, we know the Congressman is working full speed ahead to deliver prosperity to our community through increased space exploration and the jobs that follow.

I am incredibly proud of our Utilities Department for the great job they do every day! The Department I have been the most impressed with since day one is our Police Department. We have an incredible group of officers and detectives underneath some of the best leadership in the country. We will work as a council to continue to grow our Police Department and expand our presence throughout the city, but I assure you that the men and women across our force right now are the highest caliber I have seen.

The Fire Department was also in desperate need of three new fire stations as previous budgets favored areas besides public safety. Ground has already been broken on Station 7 off Palm Bay Road, the land has been donated for Station 8 off Malabar, and we approved the purchase of a temporary modular fire station to be placed at the earliest opportunity in Southeast Palm Bay near the new Publix to ensure service is immediately available to this expanding area of the city.

Another plan I came up with and that our council approved is to send a resolution to Washington DC requesting that they make use of the barren Malabar Annex by either relocating NASA HQ to Palm Bay or expanding the Space Force. Either of these would bring high-paying professional and STEM jobs to our community while keeping on brand as the Space Coast.

We are blessed to have an amazing Congressman in Mike Haridopolos, who was just named the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Space and who supports our council. One way or the other, we know the Congressman is working full speed ahead to deliver prosperity to our community through increased space exploration and the jobs that follow.

We are just getting started in Palm Bay and will continue to address these key issues while also addressing homelessness, entertainment, parks, and much more. If you have any issues in the city, I encourage you to message me on Facebook or X or to text my personal cell at 321-576-4163 and I will help you resolve your issue or address your concern.

Florida’s Space Coast has gained a significant advocate in Congress as newly elected Representative Mike Haridopolos of Indian Harbor Beach has been appointed chair of the Congressional Subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics.
