15% discount on flood insurance premiums

As a result of the City of Palm Bay’s recent monitoring by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency , the City has retained its current Class 7 rating in the National Flood Insurance Program’s Community Rating System.

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA—The City of Palm Bay has retained its current Class 7 rating in the National Flood Insurance Program’s Community Rating System as a result of the recent monitoring by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency.

This rating results from the City’s floodplain management activities to protect lives and reduce property damage. A Class 7 rating provides tangible results to Palm Bay property owners through a 15% discount on flood insurance premiums for most NFIP policies issued or renewed on or after October 1, 2025.

Most standard homeowner, business owner, or renter insurance policies typically do not cover property losses due to flooding. Because the City of Palm Bay participates in the NFIP, private insurance providers offer discounted flood insurance to all residents and businesses.

Significant savings are also available through Preferred Risk Policies for properties outside of flood zones, and it’s important to note that 26% of all flood claims come from these areas.

Flood insurance is recommended to protect against the financial burden of replacing household contents or repairing damage caused by flooding.
