Eastern Florida State College Men’s Golf Team Places Second at District Championship

NJCAA Division I National Tournament May 13-16

BREVARD COUNTY • FLORIDA — The Eastern Florida State College men’s golf team finished second at the NJCAA Southeast District Championship Tuesday to punch ticket to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament.
The Titans shot a 296 in the second round of the tournament which was shortened to 36 holes at the Ol’ Colony Golf Complex in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Eastern Florida State College finished four strokes behind Central Alabama Community College who picked up the win.
Sophomores Masen McKain and Hugo Griesheimer finish tied for fourth overall as each shot 2-over for the tournament. Both finished with two birdies in the final five holes to shoot 74.
Teammates Micke Laurelli and Adam Ward also shot 74s in the second round. Laurelli finished tied for 10th while Ward filled in for Pennix who wasn’t feeling well in the second round.
Danny Byers shot an 89. McKain, Griesheimer and Laurelli all made the all-district team. Jefferson State Community College’s Braydon Moye shot a 2-under 70 to finish 3-under to win the individual title.
The Titans will compete in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament May 13-16 at Sand Creek Station in Newton, Kansas.
