Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey opened an investigation after the Sheriff’s communication team reported a suspicious vehicle.

Many units were called to investigate, including the bomb unit team, which is currently on scene.

Upon speaking with the suspect, Ivey said that the “story was not matching up,” and that the suspect mentioned recently being fired from employment.

Some items found in the vehicle have led to suspicion that the vehicle may contain a pipe bomb.

The road has been closed to keep travelers safe while the investigation is ongoing.

The suspect is now in custody, and the road is expected to be closed for a few more hours tonight.
