Brevard County Deputies Arrest Man After Facebook Threats to Kill Police Officers

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Nothing beats a “Jet2 Holiday” getaway to Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge — where right now you can save $151,000 just by not getting arrested to begin with!
Apparently, Gabriel Serrano wanted to take a little trip, so he thought it would be a good idea to post some violent threats on Facebook about killing police officers and expressing his disdain for the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
Even though he was targeting our partners at Palm Beach, Serrano apparently forgot he was in Brevard County — so we decided to help him plan a little staycation at our favorite lodge.
Serrano’s little world started to crumble yesterday after our agency received a tip from the FBI regarding a male subject — later identified as Serrano — who was posting threats on Facebook. Agent Jesse Moore of our General Crimes Unit quickly went to work, partnering with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office to locate Serrano and take him into custody.
During the investigation, it was discovered that Serrano had been involved in a road-rage incident here in Brevard, and ultimately made his way down south where he encountered deputies from Palm Beach County. They attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, but he fled, which led to a warrant being issued for his arrest.
Of course, this is when Serrano decided to take to Facebook to share his feelings about the recent interaction he had with law enforcement — posting, “Will give you a blood bath shoot ur cops randomly today” and “I’m shooting officers left n right.”
At one point, Serrano even decided to tag the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office in one of his posts — just to make sure they saw his comments, which qualifies him for the “Dumb Criminal of the Week” contest.
Well, as you might imagine, Agent Moore was able to quickly locate Serrano’s unoccupied vehicle in a hotel parking lot in Viera — and then subsequently observed Serrano walking toward the car. Agent Moore quickly exited his patrol car and identified himself in an effort to detain Serrano, who apparently thought he could outrun Agent Moore.
As would be expected, Serrano learned the hard way that here in Brevard County, you can run — but you’ll only go to jail tired.
Agent Moore detained Serrano after a short foot pursuit and secured him safely in the back seat of a patrol car. Serrano got a free ride to the Lodge in our courtesy shuttle, where he will stay until his charges for Written or Electronic Threats to Kill or Do Harm and Resisting Without Violence are resolved.
And if, by chance, he somehow bonds out, he gets another ride down to the beautiful Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
As always, great teamwork by Agent Moore and PBCSO agents on this case — and if you haven’t booked your Jet2 Holiday yet, I highly recommend making reservations to go somewhere other than Brevard County!
