FHP UPDATE: Three Killed, Several Injured in Wrong-Way Crash on I-95 South of Wickham Road in Viera

Authorities said they are still working to confirm the identities of those involved in the crash

A deadly wrong-way crash on Interstate 95 south of North Wickham Road left three people dead and several others injured early Sunday, Sept. 14, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The impact triggered a chain reaction involving six additional vehicles.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – A deadly wrong-way crash on Interstate 95 south of North Wickham Road left three people dead and several others injured early Sunday, Sept. 14, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said a 2020 Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound in the northbound inside lane of I-95 near mile marker 190 when it collided head-on with a 2014 Chevrolet Impala.

The impact triggered a chain reaction involving six additional vehicles.

The drivers of both the Corolla and the Impala, as well as a passenger in the Impala, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Five other people were transported to hospitals for treatment.

Authorities said they are still working to confirm the identities of those involved in the crash.

The northbound lanes of I-95 remain blocked south of Wickham Road, with traffic diverted onto the Pineda Causeway. Tow trucks are on site as investigators continue processing the scene.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the investigation is ongoing and that an official media release will follow once more information is available.
