Satellite Beach Public Library Awarded Flight Path Grant for Aviary Education

Florida Wildlife Hospital will present All About Owls September 24

Satellite Beach Public Library was recently awarded $500 in grant funding and educational materials through the Flight Path program.

BREVARD COUNTY • FLORIDA – Brevard County Libraries is excited to announce that one of its branch locations, the Satellite Beach Public Library, was recently awarded $500 in grant funding and educational materials. This funding was awarded by the STAR Library Network and HHMI Tangled Bank Studios through their Flight Path program.

The Flight Path program aims to educate the public about bird migration, promote bird health and safety, and encourage local communities to get to know their local birds. This program is the first campaign in the Spark of Science @ My Library initiative that was launched by STAR Library Network and HHMI Tangled Bank Studios.

The Satellite Beach Public Library will use the funds and materials from the Flight Path grant to implement engaging programs for youth and adults alike. They have already scheduled events with local organizations like the Florida Wildlife Hospital and the Space Coast Audubon Society.

The branch is also gearing up for amazing spring events that include story time, a visit from Dr. Kate Wells, Story Walk, and a celebration of The Great Backyard Bird Count.

The Florida Wildlife Hospital will be visiting on September 24, at 3:30 p.m., to present All About Owls to coincide with the library’s STEM programming for ages 5 – 12. A second program geared towards adults, Beginning Birding with the Space Coast Audubon Society, will be on November 17,at 9 a.m. Both of these programs are free to attend.
