Rest in Peace, Gator.
ABOVE VIDEO: Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Mourns Unexpected Loss of K9 Gator
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Earlier today, our agency suffered the unexpected loss of K9 Gator who dedicated his life to serving our community while protecting our citizens and his partner Corporal Lance Behringer.
Gator worked alongside Deputy Lance Behringer since he joined our agency and together they patrolled our streets and could often be seen competing in various K9 competitions!! Gator was a social media star at times as his bite work would be highlighted on our page and followed with the tag line…Gator Don’t Play That.
Gator was laid to rest earlier today after it was discovered that he had untreatable stage four cancer that was significantly impacting his quality of life.
Our agency would like to thank the team at Island Animal Hospital of Viera for their compassion and dedication to Gator and his family during this most difficult time.
To make sure Gator knew how much he was loved and appreciated, the staff at Island Animal Hospital gave him a chicken sandwich and other treats from Ford’s Garage for his final meal.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Corporal Behringer, his family and all of our K9 Unit as losing a partner is one of the toughest things we ever have to face in our profession.
Gator, we know you were welcomed up there by Junny and all of our other K9’s who have gone before you, you are loved and will be missed dearly by us all.
Rest easy my friend we will take it from here.
