Pedestrian Fatally: Cocoa Woman, 55, Struck by Car While Walking Along Grissom Parkway and Canaveral Groves

A 55-year-old Cocoa woman was killed Monday evening after being struck by a car while walking along Grissom Parkway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash happened around 5:50 p.m. near the intersection of Grissom Parkway and Canaveral Groves Boulevard.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — A 55-year-old Cocoa woman was killed Monday evening after being struck by a car while walking along Grissom Parkway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 5:50 p.m. near the intersection of Grissom Parkway and Canaveral Groves Boulevard.

Troopers said the woman was walking on the southbound shoulder when she stumbled into the roadway and into the path of a 2019 Hyundai Sonata.

The driver, a 36-year-old Cocoa woman, attempted to swerve but was unable to avoid hitting the pedestrian.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured and stayed at the scene, authorities said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
