BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – The Cocoa Police Department is inviting residents to safely dispose of unwanted medications during the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) National Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 25.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the department’s lobby will be open for the public to drop off any unwanted, unused, or expired prescription medications for safe and responsible disposal. This national initiative helps prevent prescription drug misuse and ensures medications are discarded in an environmentally safe manner.

Needles, inhalers, chemo patches, and cancer medications will not be accepted. The department asks that any liquid medications be tightly sealed or unopened before drop-off.

For those unable to attend on Saturday, the Cocoa Police Department also maintains two permanent medication disposal boxes in the lobby, available during regular business hours, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Anyone with questions is encouraged to contact the department’s Property and Evidence Division at 321-637-6304.

National Drug Take Back Day is part of an ongoing effort to combat prescription drug abuse and provide the community with a safe and convenient way to dispose of potentially dangerous medications.
