The National Weather Service has extended a Flash Flood Warning for portions of Brevard County until 9:15 p.m. EDT as heavy rainfall continues to impact the area.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — The National Weather Service has extended a Flash Flood Warning for portions of Brevard County until 9:15 p.m. EDT as heavy rainfall continues to impact the area.

Meteorologists report that 4 to 6 inches of rain have already fallen this evening, creating dangerous flooding conditions across low-lying and poor drainage areas.

The warning includes risks of flash flooding along small creeks and streams, urban neighborhoods, highways, streets, and underpasses.

Residents are urged to avoid driving through flooded roadways and to seek higher ground if necessary.

Even shallow water can pose serious dangers to motorists and pedestrians.

Emergency officials remind the public: “Turn around, don’t drown.”
