A Day of Forever Families: Adoption Finalizations Bring Hope and Happiness to Brevard

BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA — The Family Partnership of Central Florida hosted a heartwarming public celebration of adoption finalizations on Tuesday, November 18, at USSSA Space Coast Stadium in Viera.
The event honored families who have opened their homes and hearts to children through adoption, including Space Coast Daily Partner and IT Director Josh Adams and his wife, Diana, who adopted their one-year-old son.
The ceremony is part of a regional effort marking National Adoption Month, organized in collaboration with Camelot Community Care and held simultaneously across Brevard, Seminole, Orange, and Osceola counties.
“For child-welfare professionals such as myself, there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing children and families united and celebrating the start of a new Forever Family,” said FPOCF President and CEO Phil Scarpelli.
“This is our second year of holding the celebrations across the four counties we serve. As Florida continues to grow, we’ll continue to see a need for more foster care and adoptions. Our state has one of the highest adoption numbers in the nation.”
In Brevard County, the event featured official adoption hearings, followed by a public celebration filled with joy and recognition for newly formed families.
A unique feature of the Brevard celebration is that the legal proceedings are held on the field od Space Coast Stadium. This year, Judge Charles Crawford of the Eighteenth Circuit Court presided over the ceremony.
At the event’s conclusion at Space Coast Stadium, children were invited to run the bases with the stadium mascot and also featured face-painting for children, decorative photo areas to capture family portraits, and celebratory cakes and commemorative gifts for the children and families.
Speakers and community leaders shared messages of support, highlighting the importance of adoption and its lasting impact on children’s lives.
Following the formal portion of the ceremony, guests enjoyed brunch, refreshments, cake, entertainment activities, and gifts for children and families.
The celebration provided an opportunity for the community to come together to appreciate the parents, caregivers, and advocates who make these life-changing connections possible.
