BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA — Brevard Public Schools hosted students, families, and the wider community to an evening of spirited competition and family fun on Saturday, January 10, as mascots from across the district met for the Brevard Public Schools Mascot Olympics on the Viera High School track.

The two-hour event provided laughter, memorable moments, and plenty of school pride under the lights.

The Mascot Olympics featured costumed representatives from schools across Brevard County competing in a series of friendly, fitness-oriented challenges designed to entertain and inspire.

The event focused on the fun and showmanship of mascot competitions — from races to obstacle-style games —with the goal of fostering community connections and promoting active lifestyles in a safe, family-friendly environment.

“This event is about more than just fun,” said BPS Board Chair Matt Susin. “It’s about celebrating the unique school identities that make our district so dynamic, while also encouraging families and students to prioritize wellness and engagement.”

The event is part of an ongoing winter track access initiative supported by Health First, a regional health system that has partnered with BPS to enhance community fitness opportunities this season.

Through Health First’s support, tracks at Viera High and Satellite High have been open to the public on select evenings, with stadium lights turned on from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. — including during the Mascot Olympics — creating a welcoming, safe space for residents to walk, run, or participate in events like this one. Health First’s involvement underscores a broader commitment to preventive health and community wellbeing, linking active living with school-based outreach and partnerships.

The event took place at the Viera High School Track, located at 6103 Stadium Parkway in Viera, Florida. Viera High — home of the Hawks — is a well-established public high school serving grades 9–12 and known for its strong academic and extracurricular culture.

The Mascot Olympics builds on the district’s efforts to support health and wellness through accessible activities and partnerships. By integrating community access to school facilities with engaging events, BPS aims to strengthen neighborhood ties and encourage active lifestyles year-round.
