BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – Brevard high schools continued to strengthen College and Career Acceleration outcomes during the 2024–2025 school year, with 75% of seniors graduating with a CCA designation.

The results reflect a districtwide commitment to ensuring every Brevard student graduates with a clear, credentialed path to college, careers, or military service.

CCA is one of the components that contribute to a high school’s annual state grade in Florida.

The measure tracks how effectively a high school prepares its students for what comes after graduation — through Advanced Placement courses, dual enrollment, industry certifications, military qualifications, and other credentialed pathways.

This work began with a shared commitment to make sure every student on the path to a college or career credential reached the finish line.

Across BPS high schools, principals brought their teams together to look closely at each junior and senior, student by student, to understand who was close to earning a credential and what they needed to get there.

“Excellence in College and Career Acceleration is never achieved by chance; it is the result of strategic vision, purposeful leadership, and the collective commitment of schools dedicated to expanding opportunities for every student. This year’s historic CCA achievement reflects the impact of that focused and intentional work across our district,” said James Rehmer, Chief of Schools at Brevard Public Schools.

Six Brevard high schools posted especially strong year-over-year gains, each improving their CCA performance by more than three percentage points:

• Brevard Virtual School
• Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High
• Merritt Island High
• Rockledge High
• Space Coast Jr./Sr. High
• Titusville High

West Shore Jr./Sr. High and Edgewood Jr./Sr. High continued to perform at the top of the scale, with both schools above 98 percent.

A student contributes to their school’s CCA score by completing any one of the following before graduation:

• Taking an AP course and scoring a 3 or higher on the AP exam
• Earning a qualifying score on an IB or AICE acceleration examination
• Passing a dual enrollment course that qualifies for college credit
• Earning 300 clock hours through career dual enrollment courses in the same approved program
• Scoring 80 or above on the Armed Services Qualification Test, plus two course credits within the same military branch
• Earning an industry certification in a qualifying CTE course

The gains mark the second year of an intentional, multi-year effort, and district leaders say the strongest results are still ahead.

Early indicators for the current senior class suggest another significant increase is on the horizon.
