BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA — After nearly three decades of dedicated service, Master Police Officer David Morales has officially retired from the Palm Bay Police Department, marking the close of a distinguished 27-year career that profoundly shaped the department and law enforcement community throughout Central Florida.
MPO Morales began his lifelong commitment to public service in the United States Marine Corps, where he developed the discipline, leadership, and sense of duty that would later define his law enforcement career.
In 1998, he joined the Palm Bay Police Department, embarking on a professional journey that would span multiple specialized assignments and leadership roles.
Throughout his tenure, Morales served as a patrol officer, SWAT operator, detective, field training officer, corporal, and, most recently, as the department’s training officer.
His diverse experience allowed him to contribute at nearly every operational level of the agency, providing both frontline service and behind-the-scenes leadership essential to daily police operations.

In addition to his supervisory and investigative roles, Morales was a cornerstone of the department’s training infrastructure. He served as the lead firearms instructor and armorer, emergency vehicle operations instructor, defensive tactics instructor, and master Taser instructor.
He also held numerous state and national certifications specializing in officer safety and operational readiness, ensuring Palm Bay officers were trained to the highest professional standards.
Department officials credit Morales with training and mentoring hundreds of officers and recruits over the course of his career, not only within Palm Bay but across the Central Florida region.
His influence extends far beyond a single agency, having helped shape the skills, mindset, and professionalism of generations of law enforcement personnel.

Palm Bay Police Chief Mariano Augello praised Morales’ unwavering positivity and work ethic, stating that he “never had a bad day. He always showed up with a smile on his face and was ready to work.”
Colleagues describe Morales as a steady leader, dedicated mentor, and consummate professional whose commitment to excellence sets the bar for others to follow. His legacy, they say, will continue through the officers he trained and the standards he established.
The Palm Bay Police Department expressed its gratitude for Morales’ service to the community, the department, and the nation, wishing him continued success and happiness in retirement.
“Congratulations, David,” the department said in a statement. “Thank you for 27 years of outstanding service and for leaving our agency better than you found it.”
