BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Health First, alongside City of Rockledge officials, has officially begun site preparation and is moving forward with construction of Brevard County’s first freestanding emergency room, marking a major expansion of local emergency care access.

The new facility, located at 3300 S. Fiske Blvd. in Rockledge, is part of Health First’s accelerated plan announced in May to build two freestanding emergency rooms across Brevard County.

The initiative is aimed at ensuring residents continue to have reliable, 24/7 emergency services close to home as the region’s population continues to grow.

The Rockledge freestanding ER will feature a modern 12-bed emergency department spanning approximately 13,500 square feet. It will include fully equipped lab and imaging services such as CT, X-ray, and ultrasound, along with a three-bay low-acuity treatment area, a dedicated triage room, and a two-bay ambulance entrance.

The facility will also be supported by a full generator backup capable of sustaining operations for up to 72 hours.

Designed with resilience in mind, the structure will be rated as a Category 4 facility, built to withstand winds of up to 165 miles per hour.

Most importantly, the emergency room will be staffed around the clock by highly trained emergency physicians and clinical care teams, ensuring continuous access to emergency medical services for the community.

Health First officials noted that plans for freestanding emergency rooms in Brevard County have been in development for years in anticipation of steady population growth. However, those plans were fast-tracked in response to evolving community needs, particularly following the closure of Orlando Health Rockledge Hospital in April.

Once completed, the Rockledge freestanding emergency room is expected to play a critical role in strengthening emergency care coverage in central Brevard County and providing residents with timely, high-quality emergency medical services close to home.
