BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — Senior and special-needs rescue dogs will take center stage this spring as Touch of Grey Rescue launches its Best in Rescue Photo Contest for Poocharella 2026, an online competition that culminates with the crowning of “Ms./Mr. Poocharella” at a live celebration on Saturday, March 21.
Voting opened Jan. 25 HERE and runs through March 8.
The contest highlights rescue dogs—particularly older dogs and those with special needs—while raising funds to support the nonprofit’s mission.
Pet parents are invited to submit photos and share their dogs’ adoption stories, with the public deciding the top contenders through online voting.
The Top 10 dogs will be determined by online voting, and the Top 5 finalists will be required to attend the live event for final judging on the main stage.
An entry fee of $10 per submission helps fund rescue, medical care, and placement services provided by Touch of Grey Rescue.
The grand prize winner will receive the Best in Rescue title, a Doggie Basket of Goodies valued at $200, and free merchandise. Finalists will also enjoy the spotlight at a community celebration designed to be as fun for people as it is for pups.
Poocharella 2026 will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Wickham Park, featuring live music, food trucks, a beer garden, and a Swift Paws lure course where dogs can sprint and play.
Organizers say the event aims to blend entertainment with education—introducing attendees to the joys and rewards of adopting senior and special-needs dogs.
While the contest is open to all rescue dogs, Touch of Grey Rescue emphasizes that every entry helps amplify the stories of animals who often wait the longest for homes. “These dogs have so much love to give,” organizers note. “Poocharella gives them the platform they deserve.”
Entries and votes are being accepted online through the official GoGo Photo Contest page. Proceeds directly benefit Touch of Grey Rescue’s ongoing efforts to save, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs across Florida.
For dog lovers, families, and rescue supporters alike, Poocharella 2026 promises a day of celebration—where every wagging tail tells a second-chance story.
