Florida Tech Sets Program Record Time in the Men’s 800 Free Relay in Day One of SSC Championships

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech opened the Sunshine State Conference Championships with a strong performance on Wednesday, Feb. 11, highlighted by a program-record swim in the men’s 800-yard freestyle relay.
The men’s relay team of Efe Ongoren, Antoni Fronczak, Akos Hajagos and Lucas Mitchelmore turned in a time of 6:31.36, setting a new program record and marking a standout moment on the first day of competition.
The women’s 800-yard freestyle relay also delivered a solid showing. Abby Briggs, Kayleigh Jollands, Torie Whitbeck and Sam Bullard combined for a time of 7:48.93, adding valuable momentum for the Panthers early in the championship meet.
Both the men’s and women’s squads will return to the pool on Thursday, Feb. 12, as the Sunshine State Conference Championships continue with day two of competition.
