BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The U.S. Coast Guard Southeast is reinforcing its stance on unlawful maritime travel, warning that individuals attempting to enter Cuban waters and return to the United States without proper authorization will be stopped.
In a recent public statement shared alongside federal partners, officials emphasized that entering Cuban territorial seas and returning to the U.S. without the required permits is illegal.
Authorities made clear that any vessels or individuals attempting to unlawfully enter the United States by sea will face interdiction.
According to the advisory, those intercepted will be repatriated to their country of origin or the nation from which they departed.
The enforcement measures align with U.S. laws, policies, and international treaty obligations, officials said.
The Coast Guard also highlighted its ongoing coordination with federal partners, including Customs and Border Protection field operations, to maintain maritime security and enforce immigration laws.
Officials continue to stress that attempting unauthorized travel by sea carries significant legal risks and safety concerns, urging individuals to follow lawful immigration processes and avoid dangerous voyages.
