BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – A 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Cuba on Monday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake occurred approximately 162 miles west of Mantua, Cuba, at around 2 p.m. Eastern time.

Thousands of people across Florida, including Brevard County, reported feeling the shaking.

Despite the widespread reports of tremors, officials have not issued any tsunami warnings or advisories related to the earthquake.

There have been no immediate reports of significant damage or injuries associated with the seismic event.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation as additional information becomes available.
