BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – Many of us have a basic grasp of American history and geography.

Yet, students struggling in these areas may not be able to name and locate all 50 U.S. states and their state capitals.

But a Rockledge computer software specialist may have a solution.

According to a press release from PR Newswire,  P.A. Mlecka of Rockledge has published “Trivia Playing Cards U.S.A.”

It’s a deck where individual playing cards represent state-by-state trivia that helps students learn or refresh their knowledge of U.S. history, geography and more.

The back of each card contains part of a map puzzle that, when assembled, makes a large map of the United States.

Teachers say it makes students more interested in learning.

Mlecka is a 1978 graduate of Florida State University and has developed other educational software using today’s most advanced technological tools.

The “Smart Kids Classroom System” presents assignments both at the question and answer levels in random sequence, potentially eliminating cheating.

It also provides automatic grading and maintains statistics of performance, thus saving time and allowing teachers to quiz more frequently.

The Mlecka family has been in the publishing business for more than 50 years.

The family started publishing in 1958 with exam study guides to help U.S. Navy personnel pass tests for promotion and that lasted more than 20 years.

They followed that with the book “Famous People,” a biographical book of birthdays and a history book in itself.

It revealed that as of 1973, more famous people were born on July 4 than on any other day.

Other books published by the Melcka family include genealogy of the “Pierce,” “Frost,” and “Blood” families and a book about high school alumni.

Teachers, homeschoolers and others interested in helping education or for fundraising can become a sales rep and obtain free samples of “Trivia Playing Cards U.S.A.” by sending an email to the publisher at mlecka@att.net or by calling 352-796-2089.
