Melbourne PD Arrests Suspect On Attempted Murder

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Andrew Samaj III, 29, was arrested yesterday afternoon on charges of aggravated assault, attempted murder and possession of firearm by convicted felon, according to the Melbourne Police Department.

The Melbourne Police Department Communications Center received a call at 4:13 p.m. yesterday reporting an armed disturbance and possible gunshot victim in the parking lot of Incredible Pets at 2255 N. Wickham Road.

Upon arrival, Melbourne PD officers discovered that the suspect, later identified as Samaj, followed the victim and her brother,  Zach Brantley, to the parking lot where he confronted her with a 12 gauge shot-gun.

According to the Melbourne Police Department, Brantley intervened by wrestling the gun away from Samaj, and although the gun discharged during the struggle, no one was injured.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident and booked at the Melbourne Police Department.

The case is still under investigation by the Melbourne Police Department.
