BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Autumn gardeners are invited to join members of the Brevard Botanical Garden, Brevard County Master Gardeners and UF/IFAS Brevard County Agents at the Cocoa Extension Service, 3695 Lake Drive, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 21, for the annual Edible Plant Festival.
Edible and ornamental plants will be sold with all proceeds going to the Brevard Botanical Garden. Free classes are also offered.
Some of the herbs for sale include basil, borage, calendula, chervil, dill, and fennel. Gardeners who enjoy growing their own vegetables may purchase broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, collards, Chinese and red cabbage, eggplant, kale, salad mix, Swiss chard, sweet and hot peppers, and heirloom tomatoes.
Edible and sweet-smelling flowers for sale include Mexican mint marigold, stock, nasturtium, and sweet pea. Other plants will also be offered.
Free classes will be offered as well, including Growing Vegetables 101 at 9:30 a.m., followed by Knot Gardens 101 at 10:30 a.m., and Grow Culinary Herbs 101 at 11:30 a.m.
