BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne police have identified William Collins, 61, as the dead man whose body was discovered in a Melbourne canal on Monday morning.

Melbourne police said that officers responded to the 700 block of Magnolia Avenue on Monday morning after a body was discovered in a canal just south of the Bright House Networks business facility.
The Melbourne Police Dive Recovery Team was called to retrieve the body, which was then turned over to the Medical Examiner’s Office.
According to the Melbourne Police Department, at this stage of the investigation there are no indications of foul play. It is also believed that Collins may have been a transient, residing in a nearby wooded area.
An autopsy has been scheduled for today, and the Melbourne Police Department is currently investigating this incident. If you have any information call Crimeline 1-800-423-TIPS (8477).

Body Found Floating In Melbourne Canal

The Melbourne Police Department is currently investigating, and are in the process of recovering the body.
To this point, no foul play is evident.
