Melbourne Police Commander and spokesman Vince Pryce has identified the suspected shooter as Jose Garcia Rodriguez, 57, of Palm Bay, Florida.

MELBOURNE-SHOOTING-5Among the victims is Rodriguez’s wife, 33-year-old Ida Garcia, of Palm Bay, who is listed in good condition at the hospital.

The male victim, who died of his wounds, has not been identified at this time.

According to police, Rodriguez shot Garcia and the male victim before shooting himself dead.

The police recovered three handguns at the scene and said Rodriguez’s pockets were full with ammunition.

It has now been reported that two are dead and one wounded in the shooting Saturday morning at the Melbourne Square Mall. 

One of the three victims is believed to be the shooter, according to Melbourne Police Commander Vince Pryce.

Police and mall officials are requesting witnesses to meet investigators in front the mall food court entrance or call 321-608-6731.

Aaron A. Belka, 41, of Melbourne was struck and killed by a train Saturday night, according to the Melbourne Police Department.

A store manager at Journeys who witnessed the incident told Space Coast Daily that about 10 shots were fired and that they believed the suspect shooter was dead.

There is no report at this time on what type of firearm was used in the shooting.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA  – Witnesses report that the Melbourne Square Mall has been locked down and police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred in the food court on Saturday morning at about 9:30 a.m.

An unconfirmed preliminary report by witnesses reported that one person is dead and two wounded at the mall located at 1700 W. New Haven Ave.

According to the Melbourne Police Department, the shooter is now contained and officers are clearing the mall store by store.

Police have requested that store employees of mall stores leave through their store’s back door.
