ABOVE VIDEO: Palm Bay Detectives are searching for an armed robbery suspect who doused a convenience store clerk with lighter fluid and threatened to set the clerk on fire, according to the Palm Bay Police.
BREVARD • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Detectives are searching for an armed robbery suspect who doused a convenience store clerk with lighter fluid and threatened to set the clerk on fire, according to the Palm Bay Police.
The clerk called 9-1-1 at 2:16 a.m. on Wednesday morning to report the armed robbery at the Kangaroo Express at 5881 Babcock Street. (See Map Below)
According to the victim, the suspect entered the store with his face covered and as he approached he doused the clerk with lighter fluid.
Armed with a lighter and a bottle of lighter fluid, the suspect threatened to set a store clerk on fire if he didn’t surrender money in the cash register, according to Palm Bay Police.
Detectives are now attempting to identify the suspect captured on the store’s surveillance video and hope someone may be able to provide his identity.
The clerk complied and the suspect immediately fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Palm Bay Fire-Rescue responded to evaluate the victim who was not physically injured.
The clerk described the suspect as a white male, approximately 6-feet tall and weighing 170-180 pounds.
The suspect was wearing a camouflage colored beanie style hat, sunglasses, maroon long sleeve shirt, blue jeans and black gloves.
The victim says the suspect covered his face with his shirt.
Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect is asked to contact the Central Florida CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous and can be eligible for cash rewards of up to $1,000 in this case.
