Bicyclist Critically Injured In Crash Monday Afternoon Near Cape Canaveral Hospital

The Cocoa Beach Police Department reported officers stopped a pickup truck Friday at 7:30 p.m. occupied by two juvenile males of Merritt Island who were observed to have displayed what appeared to be a rifle while driving southbound on N. Atlantic Avenue.
Cocoa Beach Police responded to an incident Monday afternoon where a homeless male, 45, was attempting to cross S.R 520 in the area of Cape Canaveral Hospital on his bicycle and was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle driven by, Verlin Jenson, 91, of Cocoa Beach.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – Cocoa Beach Police responded to an incident Monday afternoon where a homeless male, 45, was attempting to cross S.R 520 in the area of Cape Canaveral Hospital on his bicycle and was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle driven by, Verlin Jenson, 91, of Cocoa Beach.

The bicyclist sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne where he was listed in critical condition.

The driver was not injured in the crash.
