CRUISERSCHOICE.com – Next month, Norwegian Cruise Line will bring passengers from Barcelona, Spain to Port Canaveral for a transatlantic cruise on the Norwegian Epic.

Port Canaveral is in the process of completing $35 million expansion project for Cruise Terminal 10 to handle ships with a 4,500 passenger capacity. It will open on Nov. 12 to prepare for the Norwegian Epic, a 4,100-passenger cruise ship.

Norwegian will bring passengers from the Barcelona cruise port to Port Canaveral, Florida in late October. Passengers, most of them from Florida, will sail the 16-day transatlantic cruise with a couple of stops along the way.

Epic will then be in Florida for the holiday season, offering seven-day cruises to Eastern and Western Caribbean, as well as three and four-day cruises to the Bahamas. It’s the largest cruise ship in Norwegian’s fleet.

The cruise line is replacing its older Norwegian Spirit ship with the Norwegian Epic, starting in November. Epic was built in 2010 and has double the capacity. Spirit was built in 1998 and eventually joined the Norwegian fleet in 2004.

Norwegian Epic reviews have scored the ship with four-stars. The main complaint was the food, but that was before Norwegian revamped its food and beverages, which has been a success.

Some people also didn’t like the bathroom and shower being open to the cabin, making it difficult to have privacy while in the stateroom.

The ship is so big that it has its own Epic-class with Norwegian. The layoff is similar to the Breakaway, Getaway, and the Escape.
