Cocoa Police Conducting Death Investigation After Infant Is Found Dead

Cocoa Police detectives are conducting a death investigation involving an infant after emergency personnel responded to 911 call Wednesday around 12:15 p.m. near Flower Mound Lane in the Oak Meadows Apartments, according to Yvonne Martinez of the Cocoa Police Department.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa Police detectives are conducting a death investigation involving an infant after emergency personnel responded to 911 call Wednesday around 12:15 p.m. near Flower Mound Lane in the Oak Meadows Apartments, according to Yvonne Martinez of the Cocoa Police Department.

The caller had stated an infant was not breathing.

Police say when first responders arrived they attempted to revive the one-month-old boy, however after repeated attempts paramedics pronounced the boy dead at the scene.

As a matter of protocol with infant related deaths, detectives are called to investigate the circumstances, according to Martinez.

The medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
