SOCIAL MEDIA 'Serial Killer' RUMOR UNFOUNDED
Editor’s Note: The following article is written by Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey.
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – First and foremost, let me start by saying that there is absolutely no truth to the rumors that have started to circulate on various social media sites about a potential “Serial Killer” or people being abducted from various locations around the county.
These rumors began to circulate in various forms after several unrelated deaths occurred over a period of several days.
The various deaths were isolated incidents that were either by natural causes, drug overdose or suicide.
However, they had nothing to do with each other and were not deemed to be suspicious in nature.
While there will always be those that share information on the various social media platforms that have not been validated, I greatly appreciate the many citizens who reached out for our agency to inquire about the events that had actually occurred and to make us aware of the various rumors that were being posted.
Again, please know that there is absolutely no truth to these rumors and if there were to ever be a critical incident of this type or need for concern, our agency would immediately share the information with our community so we could do everything possible to keep our citizens safe.
