STAR PHYSICIANS

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Like many others, Florida’s spectacular weather helped draw Dr. Donald DeHaven here originally from his native Philadelphia.

DR. DONALD DEHAVEN’s staff features his wife and office manager, Suzie, left, and his daughter and medical assistant, Connie Johnson.

DeHaven liked it here so much he chose to stay and has been recognized as a top performer for 2011 by the Brevard Physicians Network based upon his Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set rating for care and service.

Wrapping up his medical degree at the University of South Florida in 1978, DeHaven completed his residency at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Jacksonville and then eventually settled in Brevard County where he established a practice in family medicine.

And DeHaven brings new meaning to the term “family medicine.”

“All of our employees are family members and I like to think of our patients as extended family. It naturally flows that we will try to provide good care.”

His office staff consists of just two individuals – his wife, Suzie, and his daughter, Connie. The family also includes two other adult daughters not involved with the practice.

Board certified and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice, DeHaven said his goal has always been to keep his practice focused on why it is there to begin with.

“My goal is a small family practice, not corporate medicine,” he said. “All of our employees are family members and I like to think of our patients as extended family. It naturally flows that we will try to provide good care.”

DeHaven says Brevard County is an ideal location to practice medicine for a good reason.

“Melbourne has a small town feeling, but offers more amenities like the King Center than most similar-sized communities,” he said.

His office is at 8041 Spyglass Road, Suite 102 in Viera, Florida.  For information call 321-435-3500.
