BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County school children will have an opportunity to win Apple watches, cash and prizes this fall during the annual Doctors’ Goodwill Foundation STEMedical Terminology Spelling Bee.

Contestants will be divided into age divisions, and any student who resides in Brevard County is eligible to enter.

There is no charge to enter the competition. In advance of the contest, students will have access to a set of medical terminology words to learn and understand their meaning (see links above for spelling bee words)

During the event on October 31, each student will have an opportunity to spell the words and advance in the spelling bee.

The spelling competition will take place on Saturday, October 31, beginning at 9 a.m. inside the Space Coast State Fair at Space Coast Stadium in Viera. Contestants and spectators should enter at Gate 5 and admission is free until 11 am.

The spelling bee was originally conceived by Dr. Dwight E. Jones and is organized and sponsored by the Doctors’ Goodwill Foundation and by Space Coast Daily.

FUN, EDUCATIONAL FORMAT

The idea for the Spelling Bee originally came from Dr. Dwight E. Jones, CEO of Brevard Physicians Network. Dr. Jones initiated and facilitated a very successful and long standing medical terminology spelling bee while working in Atlanta.
