Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) Certified Instructors are hosting the Third Annual Not One More Child Drowns 5K in Brevard County this weekend, on Saturday May 26th at Wickham Park in Melbourne.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have once again named drowning a leading cause of death for young children. The event’s goals are to help raise awareness for drowning prevention and water safety, and provide families with needed resources from ISR and other community organizations to help keep children safe around the water.

Families in Brevard County are invited to learn more about water safety resources in their community during the event, which will include not only the 5K race, but also Water Safety Day hosted by Swim Safe Brevard.

ISR To Provide Water Safety Resources

Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) Certified Instructors will provide valuable water safety resources to families during the event, including information about survival swimming lessons that the CDC has recently deemed effective in reducing drowning risk for young children.

Swim Safe Forever Brevard hosts this year’s event in partnership with Brevard County Parks and Recreation, offering families the opportunity to meet water safety experts including ISR Certified Instructors who teach ISR Self-Rescue survival swimming lessons, which are nationally recognized as the safest survival swimming lessons for infants and young children.

Brevard County Fire Rescue, Brevard County Life Guards, Health First, Life Preservers of Brevard, Protect A Child Pool Fence, Brevard County Health Department, Gymboree, and water safety mascots Josh the Otter and Safety Turtle will also attend the event to lend their expertise and resources to help keep Brevard County families safe in and around the water.

How To Register

Participants can register online to run or walk in the Not One More Child Drowns 5K. Race registration is $25 per participant through Active.com. Proceeds from race registration, as well as the silent auction and raffle tickets will fund swimming lessons for children through Swim Safe Forever Brevard. Following the race, families may enjoy free bounce houses, dunk tank, face painting, music and games in the park.
