Health First is recognizing Dr. Schuyler DeJong, an Orthopedic and Sports Medicine physician and U.S. Army Reserve colonel, for his continued service to the country and the Space Coast community.
BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — Health First is recognizing Dr. Schuyler DeJong, an Orthopedic and Sports Medicine physician and U.S. Army Reserve colonel, for his continued service to the country and the Space Coast community.
During his recent deployment, Dr. DeJong served with a forward medical unit in the Middle East.
While deployed, he received the Combat Action Badge for serving under hostile enemy fire.
Health First expressed its gratitude for Dr. DeJong’s commitment to caring for others, both while serving in uniform and through his work as a physician in Brevard County.
Dr. DeJong has returned to the Space Coast and is seeing patients at 205 E. NASA Boulevard, Suite 100B, in Melbourne.

Dr. DeJong is an orthopedic surgeon who trained in the US Army, completing orthopedic surgery residency at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii and sports medicine fellowship at the US Military Academy at West Point, NY.
His practice focuses on surgical and non-surgical management of musculoskeletal injuries, with an emphasis on knee and shoulder injuries, such as ligament or tendon tears and meniscal injuries.
Dr. DeJong has been practicing in Brevard since 2003, where he moved after completing 14 years of active duty service in the US Army.
Here in Brevard County, he was the team physician for Florida Tech and several of the local high schools for over 20 years. He has recently transitioned off the sidelines and has returned to his roots in the Army, resuming service as a Colonel in the US Army Reserves.
