BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – A Bayside High School prep football standout has chosen to play college football for the University Of Louisville.

Travonte Valentine

Travonte Valentine, a rising junior for the Bears, chose the Cardinals from a select group of high-profile programs that included the Miami Hurricanes, the Florida Gators, the Indiana Hoosiers, the South Florida Bulls, the Michigan State Spartans, the Minnesota Giolden Gophers and the West Virginia Mountaineers.

Valentine, is a 6-foot-3, 285-pound defensive tackle, gave a verbal commitment to Louisville coach Charlie Strong.

It was Louisville’s first commitment for the 2014 graduating class.

Because it is only a verbal commitment and not an actual letter of intent, Valentine will still have an opportunity to change his mind later if he thinks anohter college would be a better fit for him.

Strong is entering his third season as Louisville coach.

He has guided the Cardinals to consecutive bowl appearances and led Louisville to its first Big East Conference championship,, sharing the regular season title with West Virginia last year.
