Passenger Killed In Titusville Auto Accident

Severe Injuries Sustained

Rescue personnel was called to the scene of an automobile accident at about 1:20 p.m. today, May 31, at the intersection of Columbia Boulevard and Barna Avenue in Titusville – where a passenger in one car died from injuries sustained in the crash.

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Rescue personnel were called to the scene of an automobile accident at about 1:20 p.m. today, May 31, at the intersection of Columbia Boulevard and Barna Avenue in Titusville – where a passenger in one car died from injuries sustained in the crash.  

Titusville Police Lt. Jeffrey D. King said preliminary information indicates that one vehicle had just begun to travel southbound through the intersection when the light turned green.

A second vehicle traveling at a higher rate of speed traveling in the same direction struck the rear of the first vehicle.

The vehicle in the front sustained heavy damage to the rear and came to a rest in the northbound traffic lanes, while the second vehicle sustained front end damage and came to a rest in the median.

As a result of the crash, both drivers were transported to medical facilities because of their injuries, one by ambulance and one by helicopter.

A rear passenger of the vehicle hit in the rear died as a result of their injuries.  No names of the drivers or passengers will be released until proper notifications take place.

This traffic crash investigation is still ongoing at this time.

King said further updates will be at the discretion of the assigned traffic homicide investigator.
