BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Summer can be a time many children spend hours on end in the swimming pool.

But that way to beat the heat can be frustrating for those who cannot swim.

To help everyone learn to swim, the city of Melbourne pools will conduct registration for swimming lessons and form recreational swim teams.

Registration will be from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Eau Gallie Civic Center, 1551 Highland Avenue in Melbourne.

Four different levels of swim lessons are available and the lessons will be offered in two-week sessions.

Sessions begin on June 4, June 18, July 9 and July 23.

The lessons will be given the Fee Avenue Pool and at the Sherwood Pool on Post Road in Melbourne.

The cost to participate is $41 per person for residents of Melbourne and $49 for all others.

Both novice and advanced swim team activities will start June 4. The registration cost for recreational swim teams is $80 per person for residents and $96 for others.
