BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – A 26-year-old man was killed Saturday night when he was ejected from an SUV in a one-car accident on Grissom Parkway near Titusville.

Dalton Cook of Cocoa was a passenger in a 2000 Toyota SUV driven by James Walker of Cocoa, 28, when the vehicle drifted off the roadway and overturned, ejecting Cook.

Cook was not wearing a seatbelt and died from his injuries.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers said Walker was driving south on Grissom Parkway about 6 p.m. Saturday and had just passed another car and then entered a curve in the road.

The front of Parker’s SUV drifted off the road onto the right shoulder and when he attempted to steer left, the SUV crossed the southbound lane, entered the northbound lane and overturned.

Cook was transported to Wuesthoff Hospital in Cocoa where he was pronounced dead.

Both Walker and the vehicle’s other passenger, Rebecca Tillett of Titusville, 21, sustained injuries and also were taken to Wuesthoff Hospital for treatment.

Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman Sgt. Kim Montes said the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
