A two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning in Mims left one person dead and another seriously injured, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of State Road 46 and Morgan Alderman Road in Volusia County.

MIMS, FLORIDA – A two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning in Mims left one person dead and another seriously injured, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of State Road 46 and Morgan Alderman Road in Volusia County.

Troopers said a 2026 Ford Explorer and a 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander were involved in the collision.

Investigators said the driver of the Ford Explorer, a 36-year-old Lake Mary man, was not injured and remained at the scene following the crash.

The driver of the Mitsubishi Outlander suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.

A passenger traveling in the Outlander was seriously injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment.

As troopers continued their investigation, State Road 46 was closed between South Jungle Road and Hatbill Road, causing traffic delays throughout the morning.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the circumstances that led to the crash. No additional details have been released.
