Police Arrest Teacher For Having Sex With Student

BREVARD COUNTY • WEST MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Police have arrested a 32-year-old Brevard teacher for having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old student.

West Melbourne Police Commander Steve Wilkinson said Irene Isabel Kahn of Melbourne was taken into custody today on sex-related charges involving a 14-year-old boy.

Khan, who was a science teacher at Imagine School in West Melbourne at the time, is alleged to have engaged in sexual activity with a male student of hers over a period of several months during the 2011-2012 school year. She no longer is employed by the school.

Wilkinson said charges include enticing the victim to engage in sexual activity, committing sexual battery while in authority as an agent of the government, lewd or lascivious battery by engaging in sexual activity and lewd or lascivious molestation.

Wilkinson said the victim told police investigators that Khan engaged in sexual activity with him several times, including in her car, her apartment and several hotels and motels in the local area.

Khan was transported to Brevard County Jail following her arrest.

She formerly taught at Chiles Middle School in Oveido.

Imagine School is a charter school at 3355 Imagine Way off Hollywood Boulevard in West Melbourne.
