Free Workshop Focuses On Childhood Obesity

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Community Psychological Services of Florida Institute of Technology will present a free workshop from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday about childhood obesity.

“It’s More Than Just the Weight: How Parents Can Help Their Overweight Children” will be offered in the The Scott Center for Autism, Room 220, on the campus of the Florida Institute of Technology.

No registration is necessary to attend.

The workshop will focus on teaching parents of elementary school children a variety of skills to aid their overweight child in overcoming the unique difficulties they may encounter.

Parents will gain an understanding of the physical and psychological components of childhood obesity and will also learn techniques to help their family make lifestyle changes that can mean a big difference for the child as well as the entire family.

Those attending also will be taught valuable skills to enhance their communication and relationships with their child and family.

The Scott Center for Autism is at 150 W. University Blvd in Melbourne.
