Summer Leagues Honor All-Star Panthers

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech’s Brock Bontrager, Brian Flynn and Kevin Wortman were recently selected as All-Stars by their respective collegiate baseball summer leagues.

Bontrager, a rising junior outfielder, and Flynn, a rising senior catcher, played in the Hawaiian League’s All-Star Game on Monday.

Right-handed hitting Bontrager is batting .277 with 13 hits and three RBIs in 15 games for the Oahu Paddlers.

For the Hawaii Aliis, Flynn is batting .283 with 15 hits and 13 RBIs in 17 games.

Coming off his freshman season as an outfielder for the Panthers, Wortman played for the North Team in the Florida Collegiate Summer League All-Star Game on Tuesday night. He drove in one run on a single in three at-bats.

For the Sanford River Rats, he has recorded 17 hits, including three home runs and has driven in 15 RBIs in 27 games.

Both leagues conclude regular-season play in the first week of August.
